Next Steps

Day 1: Celebrate Your New Life in Christ

Key Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:17 – “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

Supporting Verse: John 1:12 – “Yet to all who did receive him… he gave the right to become children of God.”

When you accepted Christ, a spiritual rebirth happened—you’re forgiven, adopted into God’s family, and given eternal life. This isn’t based on feelings that come and go, but on God’s unchanging promise. Celebrating this anchors your faith against early doubts.

Step: Spend time thanking God specifically for salvation. Write down 3 things you’re grateful for about your new life (e.g., peace, purpose, freedom from guilt).

Prayer: “Lord Jesus, thank You for making me new. Help me rest in the truth that I’m Your child forever. Amen.”

Reflection: How does knowing you’re a “new creation” change how you see yourself today?

Day 2: Understand Assurance of Salvation

Key Scripture: 1 John 5:11-13 – “…God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life…”

Supporting Verses: Romans 8:38-39 – Nothing can separate us from God’s love in Christ.

Explanation: Doubts are common (“Did it really ‘stick’?”). Assurance comes from trusting God’s Word, not emotions or perfection. If you’ve genuinely trusted Christ, your salvation is secure.

Step: Read the verses aloud, then pray for confidence in God’s promise. Memorize 1 John 5:13 or Romans 8:1.

Prayer: “Father, thank You that eternal life is a gift I can’t lose. Help my unbelief and let me trust Your Word over my feelings.”

Reflection: What fears about salvation have you had, and how do these verses address them?

Day 3: Start Reading God’s Word Daily

Key Scripture: Psalm 119:105 – “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”

Supporting Verses: 2 Timothy 3:16-17 – All Scripture is God-breathed and useful.

Explanation: The Bible is God’s voice—food for your spirit. Starting small builds the habit that transforms you over time. Begin with the Gospel of John to see Jesus clearly.

Step: Read 1 chapter of John today (or a Psalm). Journal one verse that speaks to you and why.

Prayer: “Lord, open my eyes to see wonderful things in Your Word. Speak to me today.”

Reflection: What did God show you in today’s reading?

Day 4: Begin Talking to God in Prayer

Key Scripture: Philippians 4:6-7 – “Do not be anxious… present your requests to God. And the peace of God… will guard your hearts.”

Supporting Verses: Matthew 6:9-13 (Lord’s Prayer as model).

Explanation: Prayer is relationship—talking and listening to your Father. It’s not about fancy words; it’s honest conversation.

Step: Set a daily time (e.g., morning coffee or evening by the fire). Pray using ACTS: Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication.

Prayer: Use the Lord’s Prayer as your guide today.

Reflection: How did praying today affect your heart?

Day 5: Get Baptized

Key Scripture: Matthew 28:19

Outdoors Tie-In: Baptism is your public “tag out”—declaring new life, often in rivers or lakes, just like the early church. It’s obedience in the open air. You may also get baptized in other locations.

Step: Talk to a pastor about baptism (maybe plan one outdoors).

Prayer: “Jesus, help me step into the water as I step deeper into following You.”

Day 6: Connect with Other Believers

Key Scripture: Hebrews 10:24-25

Outdoors Tie-In: Fellowship is like camp after the hunt—sharing stories, encouragement, and meals around the fire. Find brothers who love Christ and the outdoors.

Step: Join a church, small group, or Christian sportsmen’s gathering.

Prayer: “Lord, surround me with fellow hunters for Your kingdom.”

Day 7: Live Obediently and Serve Others

Key Scripture: Romans 12:1

Outdoors Tie-In: Offer your life as a “living sacrifice”—steward creation, help a fellow hunter, show integrity in the field.

Step: Do one act of service (help load gear, share a spot, be kind).

Prayer: “Make my actions reflect You in every season.”

Reflection: How can obedience look like in your outdoor pursuits?

Day 8: Share Your Faith

Key Scripture: Matthew 4:19 (“fish for people”)

Outdoors Tie-In: Sharing your story is like telling about that epic hunt—genuine, exciting, and inviting others in. Start with a buddy in the blind.

Step: Tell one person your testimony (keep it simple).

Prayer: “Give me courage to share like I share hunting stories.”
